Akiyama Stumbles in Last Round

Yoshihiro Akiyami cruised to a demanding lead against Chris Leben in their middleweight fight at UFC 116. He was ahead after winning the first two rounds and had shown himself to be the more skilled, technical fighter. But in the third round Leben was the one with the stamina and determination to finish the fight. A depleted Akiyama eventually tapped to a triangle choke late in the third round. A bitter defeat for Yoshihiro but a return to the octagon is a certainty!

Brown Taps Out to Lytle

Matt Brown was off to a great start against veteran Chris Lytle at UFC 116 last weekend. He had established an advantage in the standup department and threatened Lytle with a choke in the first round. In the second it was more of the same until Matt was caught by an uppercut that left him stunned. From there Lytle was able to control the fight on the ground and sink in simultaneous submissions which forced matt to tap. It was an exciting fight and Matt looked great despite the loss. No doubt he'll be back better than ever!

Horodecki Defeates Downes!

Chris Horodecki returned to the win column with a submission victory over Dan Downes at WEC 49 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada this weekend. The fight ending choke came early in the third round and after two rounds of gritty determination, Downes was forced to tapout. Another big victory for Horodecki who is already back to training!

Hominick Wins Again!

Mark Hominick put to rest any discussion of who is the better Canadian featherweight at WEC 49 last weekend when he stopped Yves Jabouin in the second round via TKO. Both fighters brought their best and made for a great fight. Mark's body shots were the key as they wore Jabouin down leaving him vulnerable to Hominick's other attacks.

Fabiano Victorious!

Wagnney Fabiano put in a workmanlike effort at WEC 49 this weekend to secure a unanimous decision victory over Frank Gomez. It was a slow, methodical pace throughout the fight that simply wore Gomez down leaving no question that Wagnney was the dominant fighter on that evening.
